The holiday season in Huron County has proven to be a great time for shopping for meaningful gifts.
The Red Book Challenge has been making the most of the generosity of the season by being present at several markets designed to promote good projects that help people around the world. On Saturday November 16th we were at the Global Giving Market at Lakeshore United Church. This was a great day of spreading the word of the Red Book Challenge and meeting up with old friends. The night before we were at the WRAPP event featuring the inspiring singing of Kati Durst and the beautiful artwork of Bethany Davidson. I was honored to be included in both of these events. WRAPP stands for World Rooted Art Project for the People and proceeds from Bethany’s beautiful art went toward good projects in the community. If you missed these two events, or even if you were there and are craving more, The Red Book Challenge will be featured at the Meaningful Market at Brussels Four Winds Event Barn on December 12th. This event is really exciting for us at The Red Book Challenge because I will be giving a 3 minute pitch in the pitch competition! This is a chance to wow the judges and the audience with the work that we do and maybe even get a donation from the organizers of the event. Please consider coming out to the new Event Barn in Brussels for a fun evening…and don’t forget your cheque book!

Something that I want to make clear as we are getting a lot of new visitors to the website is that all of my work for The Red Book Challenge is volunteered. That means that all of your donation goes directly towards projects for the children. When I go to Madagascar each year it is primarily to conduct my research with ring-tailed lemurs. That is why I pay 100% of the costs of the airfare and travel expenses myself. None of the funds for The Red Book Challenge go towards my travel costs to Madagascar. I feel that wouldn’t really be fair to the children who depend on your support for their conservation activities.
That is all for today! Stay tuned to hear how the big pitch competition goes.
