Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
On Friday December 21st the Conservation Club of Fort Dauphin held their Christmas Party.
There was much merriment because the leader of the club, and president Germaine, had arranged for a special Christmas tree to be delivered to the club. Special songs were sung by the group members.
The club members worked together to decorate the tree. Each child received a small gift bag of candy as a special treat.
You may notice there are no presents under our Christmas tree. That is because the Conservation Club is operating under a very small budget at the moment, and it was not possible to arrange for Christmas gifts for each of the 45 members of the club. However, president Germaine made sure each child went home smiling with their gift bag of candy.
Some gifts that the club received this year include: colouring books illustrated by Kathy West, a new sign, printed at Precision Print in Goderich to hang in the club house in February 2019. The club house itself is a gift of a friendly and safe place for children of all ages to get together and was realized this year. Blessings to look forward to in the new year include more field trips for members of the club so that children that have never seen lemurs before may see them in their natural habitat! I have been working closely with Nicki Darbyson to establish The Red Book Challenge as a business. Later we may choose to be a non-profit organization. Let me know what you think of this new idea in the comments. With this work there will be more grant applications and fundraising in the new year. We have grown so much in 2018 and 2019 is looking positive for new opportunities as well! Happy Holidays from all the members of the Fort Dauphin Conservation Club and us at The Red Book Challenge.
